The Golden Dragon Fruit originates from Israel and is now cultivated in Thailand. However, the number of gardens there cultivating this variety is very limited – and has only been for about four years. Since Thailand is not a typical dragon fruit growing region, new varieties are being developed there on a relatively small scale.

The Golden Dragon Fruit stands out for its striking appearance: It has a bright yellow skin with so-called "green ears." At first glance, it resembles a white dragon fruit (pitaya), as its interior is also clear white and is surrounded by a relatively hard shell.
